Visionary States

I was looking at a visionary artist on erowid today and found some amazing portrayals of the psychedelic experience. These artists are incredibly gifted to interpret such visionary states.

Mother Mind Spider Sends out the Squirrel Runners - Dedicated to sly, my squirrel.

The following pictures were shown to me by a friend, thanks Cody!

Anthropomorph - Baphomet

What I find particularly interesting is the following writeup the artist has written about himself:

Mental Vice

12 pages, 10 hour later my logic assignment is done. Wow, I've been doing homework on average 10 hours daily, so excuse my lack of postings. This is the time when university is at its peak and god damn rights I'm feeling it.

-Off to my lab. It never ends.

Peace.

A thought.

The interpretations we make in our own minds from what people say are often based on our own perspective of what we think the person telling us would have thought.

Moss, green soft and spongy.

And then she said, "I'm going to deal with life." and it made me think, as I sat there content. So bizarre, one almost forgets that they are sustaining life. The realization of ones mortal self, with its requirements. To me, I almost wish I could exist as a consciousness away from this. An undisturbed, continual thought process without the room for filling needs, expressing desires.

I wonder, would it be a state similar to meditating. I always thought meditating to be clearing your mind of thought, while this state would be full of thought.

Why is it I can achieve these states only seldom. When the rush of life melts down, the mind heats up and only during a period of extreme interest or excitement it comes.

This is a place I want to be.

Mental Marathons

So. I just finished writing my contemporary logic and design midterm, but didn't come anywhere close to finishing it. Christ, it was like a marathon, I didn't stop for a second. When the time was up, I looked around and nobody was finished, which was slightly comforting. After the teacher collected my paper I stood up and I was all dizzy. Intense. That's never happened before. Ahah, ah well, I'm comfortable with what I did complete.

On the slightly more interesting side of things, I had a pretty epic adventure with Les, St, and Cody in the fort. I spent all Saturday morning and early afternoon studying for the test I just finished, then I met up with Les and St to go work on the fort. It was another beautiful day, the sun was shining and the air was warm. St and Les picked up a 15 sack, and we climbed the steeps to our "hobbit hole". We did a bit of work, but decided we should try and find some MDMA and chill out in the fort that evening. Things worked out perfectly, and after picking up Cody and having an interesting ;) dinner at red robins we grabbed our supplies and headed for the hills.

We arrived with a few liters of water, 2 flashlights, and a laptop with internet. We all dropped, and sat around listening to tunage and talking shit. We told some friends about our situation over MSN.
Hey guys. We're up cranbrooke hill, under the ground in our little dwelling, partying it up, talking to you over the internet.

I can understand why a few of them didn't believe us. As things started to get rolling (ie. us.) we listened to a few tribal tech tracks Cody had been working on and proceeded to head up the hill a bit higher to view the city lights. We found soft places on the ground and stared at the stars, we ventured through the bush (some of us more adventurous than others) and climbed a fallen log and sat on it for some time. Oh, of course there were some interesting conversations, but obviously of the "had to be there" sort.

St left after about an hour or so and headed home, we followed short while after. Upon arriving at St's place we found the kid stretching in all sorts of positions. It was hilarious, but after a short time both myself and Cody were stretching as well. It was awesome, it was like our little 3am yoga session. The funny part was, the three of us were in St's room, grunting and groaning... I started to think what Chester would have thought if he were to wakeup and hear this coming out of St's room. THEN I thought what would happen if he came in and saw the 3 of us in there stretching. Oh man. Good night. I headed home shortly afterwards.

I Power Blogger!

That's right, I do.

Anyways, I am off shortly to put the website I had been developing all summer online. A month late, but hey, least its going up. I mentioned the URL previously, but for those interested in checking it out you can view it here

The other focus of the weekend is studying.. Christ, the semester is already a 1/3 over and midterms are upon us. I have a mad midterm for my logic class, it should be rather epic so im devoting this weekend to getting it all stamped in stone in my brain. I gave myself a rest yesterday cause I had been going hard all week getting assignments done and the like. University is a mental marathon.

Our fort is coming along nicely, we have a roof on, and we have dug deep into the hill. There is enough room for me to stand up fully without even ducking. We are now working on digging our seats and doing some final touchups on the inside. We chopped down one spruce and used the bows to weave into our roof. One more spruce and we should be good to go.

But, work calls, so I must depart.

Peace.
